If you can choose between wired or wireless connectivity to the network, you should choose wired.
Wired networks are generally much faster than wireless networks. This is mainly because a separate cable is used to connect each device to the network with the dedicated speed of that cable, as opposed to wirelessly connected devices which all share a single cable from the nearest wireless access point to the network with all other wireless devices connected to that same access point.
A wired network is also faster since it never is weighed down by unexpected or unnecessary traffic or interference. Wireless networks often have to retransmit data when there is wireless interference from nearby networks and with widespread adoption of wireless technology, this is an increasing issue.
Accessing the Internet via Ethernet is also more secure than by Wi-Fi because cable connections are private, wireless data is transmitted openly and is prone to remote eavesdropping.
